TV Appearance for Newark’s Hajra Kemari after her designs shone bright at the Venice Carnival

Hajra Kemari is well known for her innovative designs and seamstress skills in Newark on Trent, but just how far she has travelled, and how far she has come, continues to inspire not only fellow designers, but photographers and journalists both near and far.

Early in 2025, Hajras creative wings saw her work travel further afield to the Venice Carnival, then back home to Nottinghamshire where her designs can be seen at her store Petit Versailles, Stodman Street, Newark.

Hajra’s amazing journey to success is well documented, from her roots in Mozambique, to early life in Portugal, her work in Paris, with Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, then to the UK her chosen home for the past 20 years.

This week Hajra's story was picked up by a popular TV Channel, and she was invited into their studios to talk about her dedication to her craft and what inspires her.

Listen in to hear the live interview with Hajra and to hear about the exciting plans she has in store for 2025 and beyond.

(With special thanks to client and model Sue Lay, and Notts TV for this clip)
